“Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we will ever do.”
Kat Nazaroff
LCSW-S, LCDC, CDWF
My name is Kat Nazaroff, and I’m a psychotherapist in the Houston area with a deep passion for helping people navigate life’s complexities and reclaim their stories. I believe our personal narratives shape how we see ourselves and the world around us. When I was growing up, my family would tell the same stories over and over—sometimes to the point of exhaustion—but those shared experiences connected us. They reminded us that we weren’t alone. I believe there is power in our stories, but I also know that certain narratives—especially those shaped by trauma, anxiety, depression, or shame—can leave us feeling stuck. My work is about helping you own the parts of your story that empower you and rewrite the ones that no longer serve you.
I specialize in working with adults and couples navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, postpartum mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, and family-of-origin wounds. I also have extensive experience working with complex mental health challenges, including personality disorders. While diagnoses can be helpful in understanding our experiences, I take a holistic approach—considering the whole picture rather than just one element of a person’s life.
A special area of my practice is supporting parents of special needs and high-needs children. I understand the unique emotional, relational, and mental load that comes with caregiving, and I create a space where parents can feel seen, supported, and guided through the challenges they face. Whether you are navigating a new diagnosis, feeling overwhelmed by daily demands, or struggling to balance your own needs with those of your child, you don’t have to do it alone.
I am trained and certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Motivational Interviewing, and Postpartum Mood and Anxiety Disorders. I am also a Certified Daring Way Facilitator™, bringing the work of Brené Brown into my practice to help clients cultivate self-compassion, vulnerability, and resilience.
Therapy is a collaborative process. Together, we can explore what’s holding you back, redefine what’s possible, and help you create a life that feels more authentic and fulfilling.
